A NEW version of my plein air sketch. I really like this mood; the mountain looks strong and solid.

Oil on canvas birch panel
Oak Grove schoolhouse was built in the early 1900's. Beyond that ridge is the "upper valley" and Draper's Orchard, where I painted the mountain a few days ago. (painting below)
I have always enjoyed making things - learning to use the tools and properties/qualities of materials. My favorite place to renew is in a Forest, Alpine Meadow, or on a Lake; all are wonderful templates for living simply and elegantly!
I started drawing at age 5 and worked in several media, eventually taking a minor in Fine Art along with my Science degrees. Later studies in Fiber, Surface Design, Book Arts and Painting support my work today. I continue to study painting through workshops and perseverance at my easel.
I work on location and sometimes in the studio.
I love nature's subtle gifts, the occasional unusual viewpoint and the many faces of light. Plein air is the most fun! I love being in the scene and experiencing its aspects directly.
